Membership:
The School Study of Council of Ohio is a non–profit consortium created in 1965 by school administrators to meet the needs of the education community. It is owned, operated and controlled by its member organizations. View the 2010-2011 Annual report.
Who can join SSCO?
Membership is available to any public school district, private/parochial school unit or district recognized by
the Ohio Department of Education, college/university that has a program of teacher preparation officially approved by the Ohio Department of Education, any other educational agency, and corporate business partners (subject to approval by the SSCO Board of Trustees). Membership is limited to 80 organizations each year.
Why Should Districts and Educational Organizations join SSCO?
By joining SSCO, you will be provided with a variety of special services and inservice opportunities.
SSCO Commissions:
Administrative Professionals, Gifted & Talented, Library/Technology, Paradigm Benders, and Special Education
These commissions bring together member representatives to identify areas of interest to plan activities based on the needs of their colleagues. Members can designate a representative for each commission and they will receive information concerning various SSCO offerings. We ask that your representative distribute/post professional development announcements so that others may also attend.
- Ohio Center for Substitute Teachers: Offers assistance in recruitment of qualified personnel to be trained as substitute teachers. Follow-up online services to SSCO trained substitute teachers are also provided.
- Grant and Evaluation Center: Can provide school personnel help at any point in the grant writing process. Assistance is available to locate potential funding opportunities, to write and prepare final drafts for submission, and to review proposals with suggestions for improving content and appearance. Staff are also available to present workshops to groups of educators.
- Request for Proposals and Announcements: Ongoing, daily grant searches, ordering grant RFP's and application materials,
and competitive summaries for funding opportunities aligned with client need.
- Evaluation Services: Impact and client satisfaction evaluation, focus groups, online surveys to target groups, data analysis,
and written reports.
- Paradigm Benders: A group of member superintendents, assistant superintendents, and administrators who meet monthly during the school year for open discussions of cutting edge topics. The group also sponsors a trip each year to visit school districts with distinctive practices.
